Posting Summary
Rutgers School of Public Health (SPH), is seeking a Data Analyst for its Community Health Justice Lab is seeking a Data Analyst.  The Data Analyst will be located in Newark, NJ and should have qualitative and quantitative skills and some supervisory experience to develop and oversee data infrastructure, data management, and perform analyses to facilitate the accomplishment of applicable research objectives.
Among the duties will include:
  • Oversees data management systems for primary data collection; works with faculty to set up, create, and integrate data collection projects and surveys into the data management workflow.
  • Develops, updates, and performs data quality control (QC) procedures to ensure data integrity; works with faculty to address issues impacting data quality, including but not limited to system issues, data entry errors, and data collection errors.
  • Prepares datasets and provides supporting documentation for qualitative and/or statistical analysis.
  • Analyze research data.
  • Supervise a team of research assistants, and provide guidance, assistance, and coaching support as needed. Ensure staff members are meeting deliverables and project tasks.
  • Interacts with senior and junior investigators to analyze study data for technical reports, journal articles, and conference presentations. This may include writing and contributing to publications.
  • Assists with the coordination of submission of data to state, federal, media, independent agencies, and other external stakeholders.
  • Works under minimal supervision and uses independent judgment to provide creative solutions to complex problem

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Master’s Degree in Public Health.  
  • Must have extensive experience conducting qualitative analysis tools such as Nvivo and statistical analyses using SPSS or Excel.
  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis skills and experience conducting statistical and qualitative analyses.
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of programming for data management is required, and excellent knowledge of qualitative software, and statistical analysis skills for implementation in SPSS and NVivo are essential.
  • Proficiency and knowledge of databases, reporting tools, and graphing software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • One year of experience in academia, government, or industry in the area of design and analysis of projects. 
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.
