The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks a Post Doctoral Scholar to perform independent research in chemical biology. Post Doctoral Scholars are expected to lead analyses critical to the research program and to take initiative in contributing to the design of synthetic chemistry and/or peptide chemistry and/or protein biochemistry and/or RNA biochemistry and/or cell biology experiments.  Duties will include taking and analyzing data, presenting results at conferences/workshops, writing manuscripts to publish results in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the Bong program, assisting with extramural funding proposals, mentoring students and supporting group activities through collaborative service work 


Qualifications: 


Doctoral Degree in chemistry, biochemistry or cell biology with specialization in chemical biology or related areas preferred .  Demonstrated experience in synthesis and/or peptide and/or protein and/or RNA research preferred. Proficiency in areas including synthetic chemistry, biochemistry (cloning, protein expression, purification, in vitro transcription, RNA purification, qPCR, cell culture, confocal microscopy, FACS, native gel, EMSA studies, western blot and proteomics) preferred. Applicants need not have all the desired skills listed, but must have research interest in chemical biology and be willing to learn new techniques. Strong software skills in chemdraw, graphpad, adobe photoshop, illustrator desired.

The target hiring range for this position is $48,000-$60,000.
