Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County (DVSSC) is a non-profit agency working within the Snohomish County community to create an environment which is safe, responsive and supportive of domestic violence survivors and their children. We foster dignity, respect, hope and self-determination in everything we do. Position Summary

Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours/week, non-exempt

Reports to: Director of Philanthropy, Education & Prevention

Worksite(s): Snohomish County

We envision our staff as a fully collaborative team in service to our mission. This position is an integral part of providing prevention and educational resources to our Snohomish County communities, with a specific focus on connection with our racially, ethnically and socioeconomically diverse youth and teens. A specific focus will be placed on bringing awareness to domestic violence prevention in relation to healthy relationships, teen dating, establishing boundaries, and self-identity.

Responsibilities:

Prevention/Education:

  • Schedule & facilitate educational presentations on teen dating violence/healthy relationships in middle schools, high schools, and community organizations in Snohomish County, updating curriculum as needed. Expansion to elementary schools in the future.
  • Develop & maintain positive relationships with school district personnel, community organizations, and other community advocacy groups.
  • Assist in expanding DVSSC relationships through educational/organizational outreach and training opportunities.
  • Responsible for evaluations and statistical reports to support funding initiatives and grants.
  • Train and manage Prevention/Education program staff and volunteers.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Community Outreach:

  • In accordance with our strategic plan, and potential grant requirements, develop and implement community engagement projects.
  • Implement training curriculums relevant to our diverse audiences.
  • Facilitate training for DVSSC and volunteers regarding messaging, public speaking, and other necessary information as it relates to Prevention/Education programming.
  • Ensure availability of brochures and other relevant materials in key locations.
  • Plan and perform prevention/education activities and programs in collaboration with direct service staff.
  • Support Development Department in promoting new programs and events.
  • Keep track of all agency programs and activities that are prevention and/or education related.

Required:

  • Prior experience engaging with youth and teens in a variety of settings, both virtual and face-to-face.
  • Knowledge of racial justice and its intersectionality surrounding teen dating, domestic violence & sexual assault.
  • Ability to flex communication style based on audience and situation.
  • Comfortable with public speaking in a variety of environments and with differing audience sizes.
  • Critical thinking and ability to adapt to new situations, assess priorities, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to lead a staff team utilizing strong interpersonal skills, mentoring/coaching techniques, and awareness of differing learning and communication styles.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, experience with social media formats.
  • Creativity, flexibility and a sense of humor
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle and be willing to travel throughout Snohomish County.
  • Flexible hours as needed. Some weekend and evening hours may be required.

Desired:

  • Degree in social work, sociology, education, social justice or related field
  • Bi/Multi-lingual
  • Grass roots fundraising experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $57,964.00 per year
