The Hesburgh Libraries of Notre Dame’s Architecture Library seeks a motivated and technologically adept individual to serve as the Makerspace & Graphics Specialist. Reporting to the Navari Family Center for Digital Scholarship, this position will oversee the growing 3D modeling and 3D printing needs within the School of Architecture and greater Notre Dame community. The successful candidate will have knowledge of a variety of digital modeling and graphics programs and experience teaching and sharing these skills with others.

- Oversee the daily operations of the Library’s 3D Makerspace:
- Supervise two makerspace student workers
- Exploration of materials in the design and construction of 3D models
- Liaise with the School of Architecture students and faculty on all 3D modeling and laser cutting projects
- Expand the concept of the Makerspace to all forms of virtual and physical modeling:
- Research, explore and implement new technologies in physical and digital 3D fabrication
- Develop, recommend, and implement new 3D modeling software, projects, equipment, and support within the Hesburgh Libraries
- Provide guidance to students and faculty in generating projects for course presentation, including but not limited to digital modeling and printing
- Develop and implement 3D modeling and graphics workshops:
- Prepare students for advanced graphics courses in the School of Architecture.
- Navigate the design and manipulation of 3D modeling techniques for presentation
- Support the librarian and archivist with digitization and promotion of the Architecture Library’s rare and archival collections.
- Participate as a team member in the daily operations of the Architecture Library at large
- Represent the Architecture Library in campus wide 3D printing initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (4 years)

Skills:
- Experience with 3D modeling software
- including but not limited to Sketchup, Revit, Blender or comparable software
- Experience with 2D design/rending software
- including but not limited to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or comparable software
- Familiarity with architecture modeling.
- Works independently
- Collaborative and forward thinking
