Classification Title:

OPS Research Technician

Job Description:
  • Work with senior postdoctoral scholars to design and conduct experiments
  • Conduct molecular biology, biocatalysis, synthetic biology, and natural product biosynthesis experiments
  • General laboratory and equipment maintenance
Expected Salary:

$15-$16/hour

Minimum Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in microbiology, molecular biology, chemistry or related field. Appropriate college coursework or technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preferred candidates are expected to have at least one year of molecular biology-related bench work experience. Training will be given as needed.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in bacterial culture, protein purification, DNA isolation and purification, and PCR; pay attention to detail and be precise; work flexible hours depending on specific experiments;
  • The ideal candidate will also be able to design experiments, research literature, interpret and analyze the data, and solve technical problems;
  • Applicants must keep complete and precise records, including an up-to-date, organized, legible, and accurate laboratory notebook;
  • Applicants must also possess basic math skills, solid basic computer knowledge, excellent use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and an ability to work, interact and communicate well with others.
