The Townsend Lab for Neurobiology and Energy Balance (ktownsendlab.com) in the Department of Neurological Surgery at The Ohio State University’s College of Medicine has an opening for an experienced postdoctoral fellow, to work on funded projects in the lab that investigate the innervation of adipose tissues by the peripheral nerves, peripheral neuropathy, neural plasticity, and contributions to energy balance regulation and metabolic health across obesity, diabetes, and aging.  The successful candidate should have prior experience and expertise in working with mouse models of obesity/diabetes, adipose tissues (histology, molecular techniques, etc.), and general laboratory methods in a molecular neuroscience field (qPCR, western blot, immunostaining, cell culture, etc.).  Willingness to collaborate, mentor students in the lab, serve as a professional example and leader in the collaborative lab team, and contribute to lab management and functions are a must.  Reading the relevant literature, contributing to lab meetings, presenting data at conferences when applicable, and taking part in grant preparation and submissions are essential.  Careful adherence to lab protocols, proper record keeping and data management, and the highest standard of research ethics and responsible conduct are also expected.  The Townsend lab philosophy includes a comprehensive, 360-degree training environment that supports trainee career trajectories and professional development, and we strongly believe in team science, collegiality, and a supportive research environment that enables lab member productivity and success.
