The GGNRA stretches across three Bay Area counties, north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge, and includes iconic places such as Muir Woods National Monument, Fort Point National Historic Site, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Mori Point, Lands End, and the Presidio of San Francisco.

Department Description:
 
The Membership Associate is part of the Development and Membership branch, currently a team of 13 staff members that leads our organization-wide fundraising efforts. This includes a robust range of programs— membership, major gifts, events, legacy gifts, grants, the People and Parks Forever Fund, One Tam, and other special fundraising efforts. The development team is critical to identifying, engaging, stewarding, and leveraging philanthropic, public, and individual support to continue to invest meaningfully in the work and mission of the Parks Conservancy in supporting our Bay Area national parklands. As part of this work, staff also lead a number of key volunteer committees to create shared ownership and deepen our community outreach and impact to meet and exceed revenue goals. Position Overview:
 
The Membership Associate is a key player in the success of the development team. The role oversees and executes data and administrative functions for Membership revenue streams. They also provide support for all development revenue streams including Individual and Trustee Giving, Events, Institutional Giving, Corporate and Campaigns. This position is responsible for donor records in the Conservancy’s database (Raiser’s Edge NXT) including processing, tracking, and acknowledging contributions, maintaining individual records, regular reporting to internal teams and monitoring data integrity. They will be required to communicate directly to members professionally. The Membership Associate will report to the Associate Director of Database Administration.
 
This position is located at Park Headquarters at 201 Fort Mason. Work is performed in an office setting, including a mix of telework and on-site. The Conservancy currently requires a minimum of 4 full days per month onsite; the Development and Membership Branch is committed to two onsite days per week. Due to the nature of this role, more on-site days will likely be required weekly to complete tasks like opening the mail, processing checks, and completing mailings.
 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Processes data entry of development gifts and donations, including checks, credit cards, cash, ACH transfers, stock, and retail store gifts
  • Enters new constituent contact information and updates current donor information
  • Corresponds with donors regarding credit card and monthly contribution issues
  • Reconciles accounts; provides reports to accounting
  • Serves as primary Membership contact on email and phone
  • Assists with running, producing, and sending member, One Tam, and GGRO membership acknowledgment letters
  • Performs other administrative duties as needed
  • Assists with development team projects
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong proficiency in computer tasks such as gift entry, database updating and mail merges
  • Familiarity with applications such as Raiser’s Edge and Microsoft suite of programs
  • Detail-oriented
  • Capable of interacting professionally with donors, staff across various departments, and outside support vendors
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent customer service skills
  • Commitment to working in a dynamic, creative team; ability to work independently
  • Adaptable with a tolerance for ambiguity and change
  • Professional commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
Education and/or Experience:
  • One to two years applicable experience in a nonprofit or similar setting
  • Database experience and knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and/or other CRMs or databases strongly preferred

Physical Requirements and Work Environments:

Pay Rate/Grade/Benefits: Pay rate starts at $30.78/hour (Grade 12), depending on qualifications and experience.
