Position Highlights The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Arizona, seeks a postdoctoral research fellow who is highly motivated to engage in our active digital health research to explore new frontiers in science, engineering, and technologies to maintain and improve the physical, mental, and social health of diverse populations. The principal responsibility of this postdoc research fellow is to spearhead the interdisciplinary research programs in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Health Sciences. This responsibility includes designing clinical research to implement digital healthcare technology to stream health in place for safety and quality of care as well as leading in the development of a robust externally funded research program in the digital health field.

This is a year-to-year appointment, contingent upon funding and performance.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plans, organizes, conducts, and monitors project protocols.
  • Development of independent research.
  • Abstract and manuscript preparation and publishing.
  • Preparation of grant proposals and applications.
  • Supervision and training of supporting research staff and students.
  • Preparation and delivery of research presentations at internal and local meetings as well as national and international conferences. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to conduct independent research, data management, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Must have an innate desire to learn and continually improve.
  • Proficient in working independently and cohesively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge with obtaining human subject research approvals.
  • Knowledge in using AI and Machine learning algorithms, health technology in research applications.
  • Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree in computer engineering fields with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for image processing upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) years experience in data research.
  • Prior clinical experience across different healthcare settings, including intensive care units and outpatient settings.
  • Effective writing experience for publication of articles in scientific research journals.
  • Solid project management experience.
