Job Overview

The Learning By Design Lab at the University of Cincinnati (UC) is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to support external grants funded by the US Department of Education and internal grants (e.g., the See Word Reading Applications). Learning by Design is a transdisciplinary cooperative of research laboratories in the Digital Futures Initiative within the UC. Learning by Design consists of researchers and designers from the fields of Communication Design, Education, Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Education Psychology. The lab conducts rigorous and robust research on all aspects of digital innovations to advance inclusive experiences in literacy and learning across the lifespan. This is a 12-month, full-time position with benefits. The position will be funded for two years, with the opportunity for extension.


Essential Functions
  • Leading the administration of child language and comprehension assessments across different projects.
  • Providing professional development for teachers.
  • Assisting with curriculum revision.
  • Developing and field-testing feasibility and fidelity measures.
  • Analyzing data and contributing to the preparation and dissemination of scholarly works across different projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • A doctoral degree in Psychology, Speech-Language Pathology, Education, Human Development, or related field. If the Ph.D.
  • Strong methodological and statistical skills, ideally including multilevel modeling.
  • Significant training and background in Early Childhood Education, Literacy Intervention, Reading, Oral Language, and Writing Development, and Implementation Science.
  • A cooperative and supportive attitude and commitment to team science.
  • Excellent academic writing and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of human subject protections and IRB.
