Job Title:
Post Doctoral Scholar

Department:
Medicine | IM Medical Oncology

About The Ansa-Addo Lab at the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center

There is a Postdoctoral Scholar position opening mentored by Dr. Ephraim Ansa-Addo at The Ohio State University. The over-arching focus of the laboratory is characterizing the roles of various T cell subsets, specifically, regulatory T cells and T follicular helper cells that are present in the tumor microenvironment and their impact on cancer progression. Our lab is highly collaborative, and the selected candidate will work interactively with a multidisciplinary team of physician scientists, cancer biologists, immunologists and biomedical informaticians within the PIIO and OSUCCC.

Detailed Position Description:

A postdoctoral scholar position in cancer immunology and immunotherapy is available at the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO), the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC). The individual will work on basic and translational tumor immunology with a focus on T cell biology, immune checkpoint blockade and adoptive immunotherapy of cancer – the goal being to develop new treatments for patients. Our over-arching research focuses on various aspects of anti-tumor immunity mediated by antigen-specific T cells. Particularly, we are interested in the biology of T follicular helper (TFH) cells, as well as regulatory T (Treg) cells.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly dedicated, ambitious and creative scientist who can work independently, and as part of a team to join the recently established Immunity and Cancer Laboratory (ICL) in the PIIO. Research in the ICL primarily focuses on characterizing the roles of Treg cells and TFH cells present in the tumor microenvironment (TME), and their impact on cancer progression, as well as the fate-commitment of antitumor T cells to exhaustion. In this regard, we seek to understand how cellular and molecular regulators including the RNA-binding protein, Poly(C)-binding protein (PCBP1) and chromatin-modifying proteins determine the fate and functions of Treg cells in the TME. Interested candidates with demonstrated experience and a strong interest in studying T cell immunology and cancer immunotherapy, as well as some knowledge of bioinformatics are encouraged to apply.

Candidates should expect to work interactively with a multidisciplinary team of physician scientists, cancer biologists, immunologists and biomedical informaticians within the PIIO and OSUCCC. Successful applicants will be on the frontline of discovery using a novel single cell platform, systems immunology as well as traditional cellular and molecular immunology and in vivo studies. The PIIO has a unique Industry-Academic relationship, meaning scientists have access to cutting-edge research core facilities and analytical tools including, Multispectral Flow Cytometry, Time-of-Flight Mass Cytometry, GMP Facility for Cell Therapy, Antibody Engineering Facility, Single-Cell RNA Sequencing and Proteomics that comprise a state-of-the art Immune Monitoring Discovery Platform. Thus, Post-Doctoral Researchers will have ample opportunities to develop their own projects and accelerate their careers to independency.

Please include a cover letter, CV and contact information for 3 references with your application in Workday.

A Doctoral degree in an appropriate discipline is required. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
