Job Description: Postdoctoral Researcher - Machine Learning and Big Data in Electronic Health Records and Other High Consequence Applications

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our dynamic team and contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of machine learning and big data applied to electronic health records (EHRs). As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of how machine learning and big data analytics can transform healthcare by extracting valuable insights from vast and diverse EHR datasets. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary experts, leverage state-of-the-art technologies, and significantly impact the future of healthcare and other high-consequence applications. 

 



Qualifications

 

Responsibilities:

- Conduct innovative research and develop novel algorithms, models, and techniques for processing and analyzing electronic health records using machine learning and big data methods.

- Design and implement scalable data pipelines for preprocessing, cleaning, and integrating diverse EHR data sources to create cohesive and reliable datasets.

- Apply statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from EHR data, such as disease patterns, treatment outcomes, predictive models, and personalized medicine recommendations.

- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and domain experts to identify specific research questions and translate them into actionable data-driven solutions.

- Evaluate and validate the performance of machine learning models and data analysis approaches using appropriate metrics and experimental methodologies.

- Present research findings and results through conference presentations, research papers, and internal reports.

- Participate in academic and industry collaborations to foster knowledge exchange and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning and healthcare informatics.

- Contribute to the development of software tools and frameworks for efficient EHR data analysis and integration.

- Mentor and collaborate with graduate students and junior researchers, providing guidance and support in their research activities.

- Assist in grant writing and project proposal development to secure external funding for research initiatives.

Qualifications:

- A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Biomedical Informatics, or related fields with a focus on machine learning, data science, or healthcare analytics.

- Abilities in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and statistical data analysis techniques and computational simulation.

- Experience working with big data technologies, such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, or similar frameworks.

- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data science, such as Python, R, or Julia.

- Familiarity with electronic health records and healthcare-related datasets is highly desirable.

- Strong interest in developing a publication record in relevant conferences and journals, demonstrating expertise in machine learning and healthcare informatics.

- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to approach complex challenges with creativity and innovation.

- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate research findings and collaborate with a diverse team of researchers and professionals.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, showing initiative and a passion for advancing research in the healthcare domain.

Duration and Compensation:

This is a full-time, fixed-term position with a duration of up to 2 years. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications.
