A postdoctoral researcher position is available for a candidate with training (Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical, biomedical sciences, or equivalent) and interest in translational pharmacology and evaluating the contribution of transporters to drug-induced toxicity profiles. Ongoing projects are related to the identification of solute carriers for small molecule drugs involved in drug uptake into cardiomyocytes, hepatocytes, renal tubular cells, and neuron cells affected by therapy; design of preclinical and clinical studies to evaluate pharmaceutical agents as modulators of side effects associated with chemotherapeutic drugs. The studies involve functional characterization of transporters, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic approaches in gene knock-out and humanized knock-in preclinical models. 

The applicant will participant in design, execution complex experimental research within the Division of Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology, College of Pharmacy, and coordinate the processing and analysis of data, conduct experimental tests and procedures; develop new and/or revised research methodologies; the applicant will assist in the management of the research and development efforts; contribute to publications, draft manuscripts, progress reports and SOPs; prepare material for presentation at professional meetings; co-supervise graduate students, contribute to course teaching and grant proposals, and work and train/educate other laboratory personnel.

Required Experience: PhD degree in science of pharmacy or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Ability to conduct, translate, adapt and apply academic and practical knowledge to the conduct of experiments with no supervision and ability to direct and train other laboratory personnel.

Experience with cancer pharmacology, murine PK and toxicity studies and detailed knowledge of drug transporters and organic cation transporters is required.
