Post-Doctoral Research Associate- Civil & Environmental Engineering - 23000001XJ 



Description

 

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

 

·       Conduct experimental and simulation studies for sustainable building materials.

·       Conduct research at the interface between biology and infrastructure materials, including but not limited to ‘self-healing’ concrete, bio-active building materials for CO2 sequestration and surface cooling, etc.

·       Perform contracted research.

·       Assist in supervision of graduate and undergraduate research assistants on research projects.

·       Assist in development of research proposals.

·       Assist in writing research reports and periodical project reports.

·       Assist, occasionally, in course sessions.

·       Develop and publish manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.

·       Assist in communication with sponsors.

 

 



Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

·       A PhD in civil engineering, material science/engineering, or a bio-engineering related field completed before starting of the appointment.

·       Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

·       Lead authorship of papers in peer-reviewed journals

·       Experience with experimental testing with construction materials, particular concrete.

·       Familiar with ASTM standard testing including both fresh and hardened properties, microstructural analysis.

·       Knowledge with biological materials handling, testing, and formulations in concrete and other building materials.

·       Familiar with materials level testing to evaluate the performance of material systems.

·       Ability to conduct LCA or TEA.

·       Programming languages: Python, C, C++, Matlab/Simulink

·       Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams.

·       Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.
