Post-Doctoral Research Associate - Plant Sciences (UTIA)

Description: Are you passionate about genetic engineering of plant cells using cutting-edge synthetic biology tools? If so, join our newly established research team at the University of Tennessee. We are currently seeking one full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to research projects focused on leveraging plants as genetic engineered devices for various functions. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on projects focused on developing novel genetic tools for improving crop traits, including plastid metabolic engineering for pharmaceuticals production and nutrient biofortification. While direct experience in plant genetic engineering is not mandatory, we highly value candidates with strong background in molecular biology and cloning, as well as candidates with experience of designing complex genetic circuits, and experience in soil microbiology. The position will be for two years with the possibility of an extension depending on funding availability. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications according to the UT policy. Qualifications: 

Applicants must have a PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, biotechnology, bioengineering, microbiology, or a related field of study. We highly value candidates with strong publication records, and individuals who are highly passionate and motivated to solve complex scientific problems.
