Position Summary
The Browne lab at the UNC HIV Cure Center seeks a postdoctoral fellow to further our study of the immunology of HIV reservoirs, latency reversal, and clearance. The successful candidate will bring experience in virology or immunology as well as the confidence and creativity to make individual contributions and drive the science forward. Our diverse team includes scientists and clinicians all harnessing their experiences and expertise to achieve a better understanding of HIV latency and clearance to address many of the remaining roadblocks to a cure for HIV. We are seeking a new team member to contribute to our investigation of the immunologic impact of latency reversal strategies, the role of the immune system in HIV persistence, and how best to clear reactivated HIV infected cells. This new team member will be responsible for working within the team as well as contributing independently.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology, virology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, biophysics, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience and interest in basic science models of host: pathogen interaction, animal models of infection and immunology, and in facilitating translational research at the clinical/basic science interface.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Proficiency in tissue culture, cellular immunology, flow cytometry and in molecular biology techniques such as DNA and RNA analysis by qPCR, western blot, ELISA, etc. are preferred. Candidates should also have strong laboratory and analytical skills as demonstrated by a strong track record of relevant publications in well-respected journals. Outstanding communication skills in English are essential for this position.
