Overview

RIO is a division of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) Informatics and Analytics department (I&A) led by the Chief Data & Analytics Officer of Dana-Farber.

The Senior Clinical Data Analyst will be responsible for data needs of the DFCI research community, including but not limited to managing, coordination, standardization, harmonization, quality assurance, and documentation research data project efforts, and bring data from a variety of data sources into DFCI Enterprise Data Management Platform (DFCI EDMP).

The Senior Clinical Data Analyst is responsible for identification, analysis, specification, integration, and quality assurance of research data in the DFCI EDMP. In this capacity, the incumbent will report to the Team Lead of Research Data Acquisition and work closely with Data Service Team to identify and analyze potential data assets and integrate these assets into the DFCI EDMP. The incumbent will be expected to manage this process with minimal guidance, from requirement gathering through deployment, including liaising, and coordinating with external groups, producing detailed project plans, specifying underlying data components, and working alongside the existing Informatics technical and operational teams to ensure seamless integration and implementation within the existing Informatics workflows.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Work with researcher to identify and define the data needs from DFCI, affiliates and external systems to support cancer research.
  • Profile data to ensure quality and utility.
  • Develop specifications for the creation of analytic data repositories in the DFCI Enterprise Data Management Platform, EDMP for storing clinical and genomic data. Specifications will include mapping, directions on data integration/transformation, terminology use, standardization, and derived data element development, etc.
  • Work with the DFCI data warehouse team, other I&A staff and researchers to design and develop processes to ensure the quality and completeness of data in research data repositories.
  • Collaborate with researchers and other I&A staff to design and develop data dictionaries, data models, data flows, and other metadata that will optimize and support the usability of the data.
  • Provide data training and support to researchers and I&A staff as needed.
  • Participate in the development of data governance policies and processes to ensure that data usage complies with information security and privacy standards.
  • Responsible for the security and confidentiality of patient clinical and financial information.
  • Utilizes Dana-Farber Cancer Institute values to govern decisions, actions, and behaviors.

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Mathematics, Business, Information Systems, Public Health, or related field required; graduate degree, preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience performing data analysis in a professional setting, required; experience in research or healthcare setting strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with customers, developing requirements, doing data analysis with SQL and designing relational databases, required.
  • 2+ years of experience working with electronic medical systems; Epic Clinical Data Model certification strongly preferred.
