The Researcher 2 will lead the planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory investigating cancer within the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Ohio State University.
The Mundy-Bosse lab studies how the development and function of innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) is altered in individuals with hematologic malignancies. Our overarching goal is to restore innate immunity in cancer patients to help them fight cancer and avoid relapse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Principal Investigator to develop, initiate, and coordinate research projects in alignment with laboratory objectives
  • Design and execute complex in-vitro and in-vivo laboratory experiments
  • Perform advanced molecular and cellular biology techniques
  • Collect, analyze and interpret research data; make recommendations to Principal Investigator based on data interpretation
  • Develop and implement new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques
  • Test new experimental designs and analytical methods and make recommendations for utilization
  • Perform critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken
  • Perform routine and complex experimental procedures on laboratory animals including disease monitoring, administration of drugs, and harvesting of tissues
  • Coordinate laboratory animal care team; maintain laboratory compliance with OSU and federal policies regarding animal welfare
  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication and presentation at national conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents
  • Assist Principal Investigator in the preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research
  • Coordinate laboratory activities of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and research staff
  • Train graduate and undergraduate students and laboratory research staff in specialized laboratory techniques
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Education:

  • Master's degree in an appropriate biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. PhD is preferred.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4-5 years of relevant experience required. 5-7 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience with in-vivo models and therapeutic testing is highly desired
  • Experience with flow cytometric analysis and cell sorting is highly desired
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and primary tissue processing is preferred
    • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required

    • Experience in a biological/health science research capacity is preferred
    • Requires successful completion of a background check including a drug screen


Salary Range:
$53,800 - $71,700 annually.
