Position Highlights

The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (AME) is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with Dr. Hermann Fasel and Dr. James Threadgill, to perform wind tunnel testing, experiment design, data analysis and reporting of results (conference papers, journal articles, and reports) for various projects related to boundary layer transition and separation. The candidate will work closely with computational researchers examining the same problem. They will also liaison with researchers examining high-speed flows for related problems. Informal supervision of graduate and undergraduate students is expected.

The successful candidate should have knowledge and expertise in low-speed wind tunnel testing of boundary layer transition and separation.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design experiments for the wind tunnel and test the experiments.
  • Analyze data and report the results of the data.
  • Liaison with computational researchers and other experimental researchers examining high-speed flows.
  • Informal supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of wind tunnel testing including pressure measurements, IR thermography, hot wire and PIV.
  • Data processing skills in MatLab relevant to transitional and turbulent flows.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or other related field of study upon hire.
