The college comprises two schools, five departments, and two interdisciplinary graduate programs, as well as seven interdisciplinary areas of study and eight centers, institutes, and offices.

The Opportunity:

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Arts & Humanities (CAH) seeks qualified applicants for a Human Resources Coordinator I position to work in the Dean's Office Human Resources Business Center. This position provides direct HR support to the HRBC Manager and CAH units by delivering HR services using a working knowledge of all applicable policies and procedures and leveraging Workday to complete transactions. Additionally, the HR Coordinator I fields questions on HR practices, strategies, and policies to CAH units after consultation with the HR Manager or designee. The position also provides broad Workday expertise and process support. The HR Coordinator I supports all employee types (Faculty, Staff, OPS hourly non-student, Adjuncts, OPS undergrad/grad students) in the CAH units, departments, and schools.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide the first point of HR customer service for creating positions, recruiting/hiring, managing/tracking employment changes, processing pay changes, assisting with timekeeping, and managing appointments, after review and approval by the HR Manager or designee.

  • Connect employees with appropriate departments for other services as needed.

  • Maintain working knowledge of all HR policies and procedures and ensure process compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and policies and advise managers and employees accordingly after consultation with the HR Manager or designee.

  • Escalate complex HR issues to the HR Manager.

  • Initiate and process all types of HR transactions in Workday including employee job changes (hires and renewals), compensation changes, one-time payments, transfers, promotions, etc. after review and approval by the HR Manager or HR Coordinator III.

  • Oversee local on-boarding and off-boarding.

  • Maintain data integrity by reviewing processes for accuracy.

  • Facilitate the faculty recruitment process including working with search committees and providing information and/or status updates to department chairs/school directors after review and approval by the HR Manager or HR Coordinator III.

  • Work with faculty and post-award support staff to facilitate the postdoctoral scholar hiring process, after consultation with the HR Manager or HR Coordinator III.

  • Manage academic appointments in Workday.

  • Prepare personnel hiring files.

  • Process and support additional aspects of faculty employment, such as paid parental leave, employment of relatives, and the transition to retirement program after review and approval by the HR Manager or HR Coordinator III.

  • Process and track faculty compensation actions for an area, such as faculty summer salary, administrative salary, and administrative discretionary increases, as needed after review and approval by the HR Manager or HR Coordinator III.

  • Support management of multiple administrative systems as necessary, including the faculty qualifications management system.

  • Connect employees with appropriate departments for other services as needed.

  • Maintain working knowledge of the UCF-UFF Collective Bargaining Agreement and all applicable HR policies and procedures and advise managers/chairs and employees on relevant policies and procedures after consultation with the HR Manager or HR Coordinator III.

  • Ensure process compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and policies.

  • Support managers/chairs and employees with timekeeping and time audits.

  • Work independently and be part of a team environment, while developing highly effective and valued professional relationships with peers, colleagues, and cross-functional teams.

  • Conduct oneself in an ethical manner.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Experience using Workday or other Applicant Tracking Systems.

  • Experience in human resources, preferably in higher education.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to keep confidentiality.
