These two part-time Horticulture Programs Technician positions, under general supervision, provide instructional assistance to faculty and students in specialized areas of the horticulture technical education program, including hydroponics, organic farming and agricultural technologies; assist instructors in preparing demonstrations and exercises and setting up equipment, tools, materials and supplies for nursery, greenhouse and organic farming skills laboratories; perform technical duties to support hydroponic, greenhouse and other crop production operations; and perform related duties as assigned.

About the two separate positions:
Horticulture Programs Technician , 50%, 12 months per year
Starting Salary Range: $2,461 to $2,849 per month;
plus 5% annual increases up to step 7, maximum initial salary step placement on the classified salary schedule is step 4. Part-time (50 %, 20 hours per week) assignment, 12 months per year. Wednesday, Thursday , Friday & Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
with evenings as required.
Horticulture Programs Technician, 80%, 10 months per year
Starting Salary Range: $3,939 to $4,559 per month;
plus 5% annual increases up to step 7, maximum initial salary step placement on the classified salary schedule is step 4. Part-time (80 %, 32 hours per week) assignment, 10 months per year. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
with evenings and weekends as required ( Note that the annual salary equals monthly range x 10 months).
Classified employees are required to join the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) and as such contribute 8% of their monthly salary to CalPERS on a pre-tax basis.
Position scheduled to begin as soon as possible, pending Governing Board ratification. Salary is subject to proration based on beginning date of assignment. Cabrillo is unable to sponsor work visas.
