Overview
Within the Department of Business Initiatives and Alliances (BIA), the Project Manager (Business Strategy Associate) for Dana-Farber Solutions will support the development and execution of Dana-Farber’s business initiatives focused on commercializing clinical products and services to expand the reach and impact of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Reporting to the Senior Manager of New Business Initiatives and Product Strategy, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing the day to day identification, prioritization, business planning, initial product implementation/planning and commercial development of new solutions to ensure each initiative achieves its intended objectives.
The Project Manager (Business Strategy Associate) may work closely with other departmental analysts, managers, directors/senior directors and the Vice President of Business Initiatives and Alliances, Chief Innovation Officer, and other clinical faculty and administrative leadership to ensure appropriate expertise and leadership support is incorporated into projects and plans.

Responsibilities
Business Planning and Analysis
- With guidance from the Senior Manager of New Business Initiatives and Product Strategy, works closely with faculty and staff to commercialize institutional initiatives that assist in scaling Dana-Farber expertise to expand patient impact and generate return
- Provides strategic support to leadership in developing business cases and strategy presentations for relationships and solutions focused on growth
- Research product opportunities and prioritize the pipeline through criteria that ensures alignment to the strategic goals and desired focus areas; conduct analysis to evaluate opportunities for internal/external investment and commercial viability
- Supports the development of business plans and commercial strategies, including market analysis, primary and secondary research/interviews, competitor assessment, data analysis, financial modeling and forecasting, and actionable recommendations
- Research and prioritizes vendors and technologies in the market that could provide a solution or component of a solution, and make build, buy, partner recommendations to advance the portfolio
- Maintain extensive knowledge of market trends, particularly commercial activities focused on digital initiatives/clinical products, investments and innovation; integrates findings into plans and deliverables
Partnership Development & Collaboration
- Conducts research and due diligence relating to new partnerships and product opportunities
- Collects customer feedback, gather and analyze market/trends and announcements and synthesize data to assist in identifying potential business opportunities
- On an ongoing basis, monitor the success of relationships based on defined KPIs, milestones and partner feedback, ensuring that products and business relationships continue to perform against stakeholder needs / expectations
- Develops materials (agendas, presentations, proposals) for external partnership conversations
- Maintains productive relationships with potential and current partners (internal/external)
- Present product demonstrations/pitches internal or external stakeholders
- Assists in assessing the economics of potential partnerships/deals
Product & Project Management
- Manage the active project portfolio on concurrent initiatives at various stages and with various stakeholders, actively monitoring project plans, reporting on milestones, and maintaining quality across workstreams to meet scope, impact and financial targets
- Support project delivery teams, including faculty, administration and general counsel in developing and delivering commercial offering/services proposals
- Organize and facilitate project-related workgroups with clinical and non-clinical teams, assist in developing timelines, record action items and track project status, hold teams accountable and ensure positive relationships with stakeholders
- Synthesize brainstorming into thoughtful organized agendas, presentation slides and persuasive materials
- Support communication with DFCI leadership, including development of meeting materials (e.g., agendas, presentation slide deck, financial reporting summaries, etc.), develops and presents updates / metric reports and other written materials (e.g., business plans, etc.)
- Develop and define project infrastructure (governance, work plans, timelines, resources, milestones, KPI’s etc.); anticipates, identifies, manages and resolves risks to project status, milestones, timeline or the product development roadmap
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on the progress/KPIs of projects. Anticipate and identify issues, communicating major issues back to project/product leadership with recommendations
- Assist in translating patient and customer needs to build, develop and prioritize the product roadmap; Work collaboratively with stakeholders to support the initial phases of the product roadmap
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Strong project management, creative problem solving and critical thinking, analytic and organizational skills, with the demonstrated ability to drive multiple concurrent projects to completion in a complex, deadline-driven environment
- Builds and maintains a thorough working knowledge of products, technologies, offerings, and DFCI’s areas of expertise, etc.
- Exceptional planning, strategy, analytic skills with demonstrated ability to drive multiple concurrent and complex projects to success within defined deadlines

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required including expert Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills and other collaboration and/or project/project management tools

- Strong leadership skills, as well as the ability to work closely and effectively with all levels of the organization
- Ability to use good judgement and discretion in decision-making and completing job responsibilities

- Experience working with clinicians or in clinical settings

- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in business, public health, health administration or health-related field strongly preferred
- 2 years of experience in product management, healthcare business strategy, consulting, investments, business planning, and project management in a health care and/or consulting environment
- Previous experience analyzing markets, identifying business opportunities, financial modeling, data analysis, presentations, health care system strategic planning and contract analysis is preferred
- Experience and/or knowledge of clinical informatics and the digital health/health tech is a plus
