Job Description
This position is responsible for the development, coordination and assessment of programs and activities related to the reintegration into educational programs and retention of veteran students at North Hennepin Community College. This overall responsibility includes the establishment of veteran friendly policies and procedures, outreach and recruitment of veteran students, development and coordination of the veteran’s resource center, and the development of community partnerships. This position will serve as the School Certifying Official and be the primary representative for the college on veterans’ services, requirements, and initiatives. This position is an active member of the office of student life.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate Degree
  • 2 or more years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with veterans
  • Knowledge of federal/state veteran’s benefits, policies, issues, services and programs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective presentation and organization skills
  • Knowledge, background and experience working with diverse groups of people

Preferred Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate Degree
  • Experience working with veterans
  • Experience working with veterans’ policies, benefits, policies, issues, services, and programs
  • Experience working in an academic/higher education setting with academic programs, enrollment management processes, and student affairs department resources and functions
  • Experience with fundraising and grant experience
  • Demonstrated collaboration with community organizations
  • The ability to work effectively with and lead others
  • Ability to make decisions, communicate and collaborate with others
  • Attention to detail and thorough planning and follow up skills
