What we want  

The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a PostDoc Research Associate to serve as a member of our laboratory team in the Center for Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring their research experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Physical Requirements: Must have the coordination and dexterity to perform laboratory techniques.

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Appropriate PhD degree in the general area of biological sciences.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Laboratory research experience in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or cell biology.

  • Must have the coordination and dexterity to perform laboratory techniques.

  • Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to perform statistical analyses, generate graphs, present data and perform other computer related tasks.

  • Ability to write research articles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have strong interest in laboratory research, with ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.

  • Ability to perform molecular studies including cloning, mutagenesis, protein expression and purification.

  • Experience with laboratory research with animal models and/or cell cultures.

Responsibilities:

  • Research - Design, plan, conduct and coordinate experiments in support of research projects.

  • Data Collection & Management - Keeps detailed records of data. Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, technical evaluation and presentation of research experiments and results.

  • Technical Writing - Prepares results for inclusion in scientific publications and presentations. Assists in the development of grant proposals to funding agencies.

  • Laboratory Management - Maintains lab equipment and supplies, occasionally order, and receive supplies and equipment, records, etc.

  • Supervision - Supervises undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory or technical staff involved in research. Participates in lab meetings within the center and other departments. Participates in joint projects involving faculty, junior lab personnel, and graduate students.
