As such, we are now recruiting a part-time Lecturer in Intercultural Business Communication on our Learning and Teaching/Research/Enterprise or Professional pathways, to support and develop the delivery of this subject area within the Tourism and Languages Subject Group.

The Role:

As Lecturer in Intercultural Business Communication, you will have the opportunity to join the Tourism and Languages Subject Group in the School (under the leadership of Professor Lynn Minnaert), an ambitious, growing team consisting of academics who make significant contributions across all strands of endeavour.

Joining the team will put you in an ideal position to use your knowledge and experience to contribute to the growing area of Intercultural Business Communication.

This post will allow you to contribute to the design and delivery of our Intercultural Business Communication modules at a particularly exciting time in the development of our portfolio / curriculum, as we will soon introduce two new undergraduate programmes in Intercultural Business Communication and Marketing, and Intercultural Business Communication and Tourism, designed to enhance students’ understanding of culture and its significance in our communications and interactions with others.  We are also continuing to grow and develop our successful MSc in Intercultural Business Communication.

As part of your duties, you will be given remit to develop, design and deliver teaching and student-centred learning underpinned by academic scholarship and professional practice, using your experience to contribute to the development of the programmes and support our postgraduate delivery, including dissertation and project supervision.

Furthermore, there will be an opportunity to shape and develop our programme of academic support for international students, so we particularly welcome applicants with a background in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) or research interests in intercultural approaches in Higher Education.

Laterally, individual and collaborative research projects will allow you to contribute to the research profile within the Subject Area and the Business School, leading to the production of high-quality research outputs and outcomes. An interest in and some evidence of research outputs in the areas of Intercultural Communication and Marketing or interculturality in Higher Education and EAP would be of particular interest to the Subject Group but not essential for the role.

What we will need from you:

  • A doctoral level qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Evidence of a professional academic and research profile
  • Demonstrable evidence of teaching specialisation/experience within Intercultural Business Communication or a relevant discipline
  • Sufficient breadth and depth of experience to support and develop high quality teaching/learning and research projects
  • Experience in supporting students in the areas of English for Academic Purposes or Academic skills (desirable only)
  • Research outputs in the areas of intercultural communication and marketing, or intercultural approaches to EAP and Higher Education (desirable only)

Additional information:

Salary: £44,263 - £56,021 per annum (pro-rated accordingly)

Hours: Part Time – 21.6 hrs/wk (0.6 FTE)
