Department of Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering

  • Full-time appointment on a one-year fixed term basis
  • Level B, Base salary range: $108,509 – $128,404 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

As a Lecturer within the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering, you will coordinate teaching and develop research relevant to structural engineering.

As a passionate advocate for teaching excellence, you will develop and deliver undergraduate and master’s curricula with a focus on structural engineering. You will also provide high quality supervision of Honours, Masters and PhD students and design and implement best practice assessments of student learning outcomes.

In addition you will conduct collaborative and independent research that complements existing research in structural engineering, and communicate findings through scientific publications, reports, meetings and teaching.  

About you 

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • PhD in structural engineering, ideally with a specialisation in steel structures or steel-concrete compisite structures.
  • Experience in structural systems and design, including experience with and knowledge of Australian Standards including AS 4100, AS 3600, AS/NZS 2327, and AS 5100.
  • Experience in numerical modelling for the materials and the structural behaviour
  • Ability to deliver innovative teaching approaches, assessment and materials for units and courses, particularly in structural engineering
  • A track record in excellence in research evidenced by peer-reviewed journal articles published in high quality journals relative to opportunity  
  • An emerging track record of successful competitive funding application   
  • Evidence of successful supervision or co-supervision of HDR students, relative to opportunity
