Overview:

The Quality, Risk, and Training Specialist participates in the conceptualization, development, and execution of training programs and performs quality and risk management evaluation and analysis, regulatory and compliance responsibilities for assigned area of responsibility. Gathers and evaluates data from the organization; analyzes data for patterns and trends; and determines root causes for specific trends. Delivers engaging, informative, and motivating training activities. Abides by the organizations mission in performing job duties. Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service.
 

Note: This role may work in Dallas, Austin, South West Fort Worth, or Waco.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs audits to ensure organizations protocols, guidelines and training requirements are followed including: Medical Standards and Guidelines (MSGs), Regulatory Agencies, Pharmacy, Lab, Safety and Infection Control, Emergency, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), Planned Parenthood Elements of Performance (EOP), and training records.
  • Facilitates, and reviews multiple audit results from all locations, identifies organization-wide trends and offers suggestions for improvement in systems and processes in collaboration with PPGT staff in other departments.
  • Ensures internal incident reports are completed and submitted and action plans are appropriate. Logs incident reports, tracks data for trends. Manages incident data and compiles monthly and annual reports.
  • Ensures compliance with mandatory training requirements including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), and specific funding sources. Monitors, maintains, revises, and creates agency policies relating to medical services such as Medical Standards and Guidelines (MSGs), Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) manual, Training manual, Safety and Infection Control manual, Laboratory manual and others.
  • As part of the Quality and Risk Management (QRM) team, this position works closely with QRM staff, health services, human resources, and other leaders to develop course content, core competencies, evaluation tools, and materials for training activities.
  • Proposes and implements recommendations for improved processes including the identification of training requirements, training gap analysis, and employee needs assessment for the organization.
  • Designs and delivers training curriculum, course content, and materials; responds to development requests from other departments. Prepares and distributes department newsletter or other communications as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of and compliance with Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) Medical Standards and Guidelines and Elements of Performance.
  • Produces timely and accurate reports upon request within PPGT or to PPFA regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Assists in preparation for audits from regulatory agencies and works with auditors while onsite.
  • Has unrestricted access to patient protected health information (PHI) on paper and electronic forms health records for purposes of treatment, payment, and/or healthcare operations.
 
 
The use of a patients protected health information should be limited to information needed for the specific task that is being performed or requested by the individual patient.
 
Disclosure of any patient information must be for purposes of treatment, payment or healthcare operation OR must be accompanied by a valid patient authorization. Must adhere to minimum necessary rule. Other related duties as assigned. Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
 

 

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent + 8 years of related experience or Associate's degree + 4 years of related experience or Bachelor's degree + 1 year of related experience. Related experience: quality and risk management, compliance. Healthcare industry experience preferred. BLS Instructor (ability to obtain and maintain)
