Summary

A bioinformatics postdoctoral scholar position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Hari Yalamanchili at the Neurological Research Institute (NRI), Baylor College of Medicine. We seek a passion driven scientist with strong quantitative background and expertise in developing and applying computational models to study the fundamental and translational aspects of human diseases. This position is available as part of a research project with specific goals of developing novel computational methods to integrate large-scale high-throughput genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic data sets. The postdoc will have the opportunity to interact with other computational and bench investigators and build a diverse range of expertise.

About the lab: 
Laboratory of Dr. Hari Yalamanchili focuses on: Design and development of various computational approaches to decode complex biological phenomena and underlying molecular interplay. Specifically, to decode cryptic splicing, alternative polyadenylation and gene regulatory networks in neurological disorders. Advancing RNA centric therapeutic approaches using data driven integrative machine learning techniques.

Job Duties
  • Develops new computational methods to integrate large-scale multi-omic datasets.
  • Works closely with other computational and bench scientists.
  • Ensures that project objectives are met as required by supervisor or collaborators.
  • Analyzes high throughput Next Generation Sequencing datasets viz. RNA, ChIP, WGBS, Single-cell, etc.
  • Reviews existing pipelines and propose improvements.
  • Publishes methods, software and application papers.
  • Conducts collaborative projects.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.
