The Faculty of Engineering and Science offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that are widely recognised for their academic quality, innovation and close ties to the industries in which our graduates work. Our aim is to equip our graduates with the skills necessary to succeed in the workplace upon graduation and throughout their professional career.

The School of Engineering is seeking to appoint an academic in Environmental and Civil Engineering at either at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level, depending on the merit and experience of the successful candidate. Applicants are required to indicate which level (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer) they are applying in their cover letter. The successful candidate will a member of the Civil Engineering portfolio, but may be required to contribute to other portfolios. We welcome applications from candidates whose teaching and research area are related to:

  • Soil and waste treatment technologies.
  • Hydrogeology, contaminant transport and remediation.
  • Water and wastewater treatment.

The successful candidates will take an important role in the development and delivery of teaching, and research various aspects of the above subject areas. All applicants must have experience in leading postgraduate and/or undergraduate programmes by working together with other academic colleagues as well as external partners (industrial members and invited lecturers).

All applicants should have the potential to develop an internationally recognised research program, have excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Candidates applying for a senior lecturer role are expected to have an established research profile.

We are looking for applicants who have a broad range of skill sets and can contribute to different areas of the portfolios and help us deliver our mission of transforming lives through inspired teaching and research, through our values. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a PhD and combine excellence in teaching with a capacity to conduct novel, interdisciplinary engineering research that will expand and complement the School of Engineering research strengths. Consideration will be given to candidates with relevant industrial experience and do not hold a doctorate qualification. Successful candidates without a teaching qualification will be expected take one within the first year of employment.
