Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a System Administrator for the Office of Information Technology (OIT). This position is responsible for management and coordination of networking resources (DHCP resources and DNS servers in Infoblox, Switches – Management of L2 switching infrastructure in NBOC supported units, Firewall Rules, special networking setups and all other network related issues).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Serves as the designated resource for RAD OU Management, Echo Connect DA and Service Owner for former NBITS servers in the EI Infrastructure.
  • Coordinates network installations, management of support contracts with network equipment, acting as network liaison with OIT Telecommunications Division and serving as a point of contact for the NCG for this unit.
  • Serves as an application service owner for NB-ITS supported unit’s line of business applications, where needed.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related systems/network administration experience.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated high aptitude in systems management and networking.
  • Ability to work with large, diverse staff, with varying job responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of customer service concepts.
  • Requires an understanding and a strong comprehension of the functioning of computer hardware, software, networking, and security and ability to communicate with technical and non-technical staff on technical matters.
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain focused with constant interruptions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years practical experience in systems/network administration.

  • Ability to lift and move computer equipment.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
