PITT-PACC Samuel P. Langley Postdoctoral Fellow
Job Description
The PITTsburgh Particle physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology Center (PITT PACC ), within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellow in astrophysics. Special consideration will be given to candidates with interest and expertise in stellar astrophysics, particularly related to survey data analysis and interpretation, stellar evolution, stellar multiplicity, supernovae, and supernova remnants. The fellowship will begin in the fall of 2024. The appointment will initially be for two years with the expectation of extension to a third year, contingent upon performance. Langley Fellows receive generous salary and research funds.
PITT PACC is a vibrant community of faculty, postdocs, and students that conduct research in particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology. In addition to performing independent research, Langley Fellows have the opportunity to organize PITT PACC academic activities, including hosting short- and long-term visitors and holding workshops and/or conferences of their own design. Successful candidates must have a PhD degree in Physics, Astronomy, or a closely related field, as well as exceptional research credentials.
