Lecturer in Psychology

Psychology, housed within the School of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Law, are seeking to appoint an exceptional lecturer at Grade 7 to support the expansion of our teaching programmes.

 

The successful candidate will apply their academic passion in their pursuit of excellent and innovative teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We particularly invite applications from candidates with expertise in social psychology, cognitive psychology, comparative psychology, qualitative methods, and/or advanced quantitative methods, although, we also welcome applications from all areas of psychology.

 

This post is for a fixed term appointments to August 31st 2024, to cover teaching in the 2023-2024 academic year.

 

Purpose of the Post:

 

 

    • To deliver high quality teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

 

    • To provide academic and pastoral support to a large cohort of UG and TPG students.

 

    • To engage in scholarly activities to inform and support teaching, assessment and curriculum development.

 

  • To contribute to the administration of the teaching programmes and the School.

Person Specification:

 

Essential -

 

 

    • PhD in Psychology, or a relevant subject (post viva with revisions pending may apply)

 

    • Experience of teaching at university (or equivalent) level

 

    • Experience of marking, assessing coursework and examinations, and providing feedback to students

 

    • Ability to reflect on scholarship activities and translate those reflections into curriculum development activities

 

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

 

    • Evidence of ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others

 

    • Ability to prioritise and effectively balance competing demands

 

  • Commitment to act in accordance with, and to promote, the university's values

Desirable -

 

 

    • Experience of supervising student research projects

 

    • Experience in guiding students through the processes of applying for ethical approval and/or of reviewing ethics applications

 

    • Experience of curriculum development

 

  • Experience of teaching at postgraduate level
