Research Scientist carries out a vigorous independent research program in observational, theoretical, or experimental astrophysics, interacting with researchers in the Department of Astronomy, CCAPP and other institutions while utilizing extensive resources and infrastructure provided therein. The OSU Astronomy Department/CCAPP's multi-messenger research initiatives include institutional affiliations with the Dark Energy Survey (DES), Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV), Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), and various other surveys, the Large Binocular Telescope (LBT), collaborations devoted to stellar and quasar variability, as well as supernovae and other transients. Other expectations are to play a significant role in the overall scientific direction of the astronomy department; write papers to publish research results in refereed journals; travel to workshops and conferences to promote the findings of the research; and confer with other researchers.

Required: A PhD in Astronomy or related area and at least five years of experience in observational astrophysics related to broadband multi-wavelength studies of compact objects and accretion physics phenomena as observed in many diverse astrophysical environments. This should include experience with observation/experimental design, survey data, analysis methods and the interpretation of astrophysical results; authored relevant publications and presented findings at conferences or professional events; experience working with students, postdoctoral researchers and scientists.

The pay range for this job profile is $75,500.00 - $75,500.00. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
