After School Program Director

Job Description

 

The primary function is the direction and management of overall daily operations of the designated Clubhouse. Key focus areas include; programs and delivery, supervision, training, facilities management, budget management, community relations, and membership administration of the designated Club. While ensuring a safe environment for Club members and staff at all times.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

  • Provides quality Club programming by creating, implementing, promoting, and managing content that supports our core program areas and outcomes
  • Ensures quality improvement by monitoring and evaluating program achievement against target goals, recommending modifications that respond to member needs and interests
  • Communicates BGCAA’s vision, mission and core values to staff, members, businesses, and greater community
  • Ensures a productive and safe work environment for staff and members
  • Ensures membership and program participation expectations are met
  • Utilizes technology provided for quality programming & reporting
  • Collaborates with Club staff and members to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instruction
  • Works with youth individually or in groups to facilitate programming
  • Provides feedback to Club youth using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students
  • Ensures that BGCAA rules and policies are implemented
  • Maintains a professional and role-model persona

Management

  • Maintains staff by recruiting and training employees
  • Maintains a safe, legal, and clean work environment
  • Develops personal and staff growth opportunities by participating and providing professional development opportunities
  • Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards

Resource Management

  • Provide proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdown of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues
  • Submit all reports in a timely and professional manner
  • Manage controllable expenses with approved budget
  • Assure effective administrative functions are in place
  • Ensure marketing communications requirements are submitted in a timely manner (i.e. stories, videos, pictures)

Marketing & Public Relations

  • Provide the Marketing Department with Stories and Pictures of Events Regularly
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and HR Department for assistance with promoting Club events and opportunities
  • Develops and maintains positive and professional contact with external community groups (i.e. churches, greater community, etc.), school administration, members’ parents and others

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet goal membership and average daily attendance numbers
  • Increase visibility of Club development activities and maintain good public relations within the Club and the community
  • Participates in Youth Program Quality (YPQ) assessments as prescribed
  • Conducts youth needs and interests survey as prescribed
  • Participates in the National Youth Outcome Initiative survey as prescribed
  • Completes a campus needs assessment as prescribed
  • Completes the Impact Assessment as prescribed
  • Fulfils grant requirements, if any
  • Participates in the creation, implementation, maintenance, and management of the budget
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Attends staff meetings and training sessions as required
  • May be required to drive a shuttle bus or Club transportation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, Associate’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or no degree and a minimum of 4 years relevant experience
  • Must pass background check, reference check, and drug test
  • Must be able to work and interact professionally

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Education, Social Work, Social Services, or related field and a minimum of 2 years of direct experience
  • May be required to drive a shuttle bus; valid state driver’s license may be required.
  • Spanish speaking preferred
  • Exemplary written and spoken communication skills
  • Demonstrates dependability, accountability, and cooperation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Preferred ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Preferred ability to work in various weather conditions—hot, cold, rainy, etc
  • Preferred ability to meet physical demands of working with youth
  • Preferred ability to move equipment up to 25 pounds
  • Preferred ability to endure periodically noisy environments (in the context of working with youth)
  • Preferred ability to have adequate vision and hearing to ensure the safety of Club youth

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year

Schedule:
