Position Description:

Purpose

In the role of Research Grants Coordinator you will assist faculty in preparing Training Grant (NIH T32) submissions, focusing on collecting data for tables and developing and applying non-disciplinary template language.

Primary Functions

  •  Work closely with the Graduate School enrollment division, the registrar’s office, the alumni office, the Cancer Center grants team and faculty PIs to collect program specific data to populate training grant applications.

  •  Assist Principal Investigators/Program Directors with identifying and collecting necessary forms, letters, assurances and approvals required for submission.

  •  Work closely with faculty, department administrators and grants personnel to shepherd the preparation and submission of T32 and other training grant applications.

  •  Assist Principal Investigators/Program Directors in maintaining up-to-date and accurate bio-sketches of key personnel using the Faculty Collaboration Database, Advarra EVAL, PubMed, Google Scholar, NIH Reporter and other data sources.

  •  Work with Associate Dean of Postdoctoral Education in the Graduate School, the Associate Director of Cancer Research Training and Education and the Cancer Center Grants Team to create and tailor templates and narrative language that describes MCW training, support services, resources and training in Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) and rigor and reproducibility, mentor training, and career development for individual training grant applications.

  •  Generate databases to support institutional training grants and grant applications as required (i.e., tracking mentors and potential mentors and current locations, professional affiliations, and accomplishments of former trainees). 

  •  Administratively support regularly scheduled meetings of the Training Grant Advisory Board

  •  Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

  • Preferred knowledge of Biology, documentation and records management.
  • Data utilization, problem solving, critical thinking, resource and time management and writing skills
  • Ability to use MCW databases including MCW Connect and eBridge
  • General understanding and familiarity with Graduate PhD education and postdoctoral

Specifications

Appropriate experience may be substituted on equivalent basis

Minimum Required Education:                Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Required Experience:              3 years

Preferred Education:                              BS Finance, Business or Business Management or advanced degree in STEM field

Preferred Experience:                            NIH Grants
