Department Summary
The University of North Texas (UNT) is strategically located in Denton, Texas which is 35 miles north of both Dallas and Fort Worth. The UNT Mechanical Engineering (ME) Department is in the 550,000 square foot UNT College of Engineering Discovery Park building situated on 290 acres of land available for R&D enterprises. The College of Engineering was established in 2003 and currently houses five departments.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Summary
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Texas is offering a post-doctoral research associate position to work on a federally sponsored fundamental science research project that is broadly focused on nanoscale energy transport, optical and electronic properties of nanomaterials, plasmonics, metamaterials, and general electromagnetic radiation.
Minimum Qualifications
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related field and research experience in the fields that are related to the focus areas of the position. In addition, the candidate should have a proven track record of publications in relevant journals and conferences.
The candidate will interact with Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) scientists and may be requested to attend research activities on AFRL military bases; therefore a minimum qualification will require U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include strong design, simulation, and analytical capabilities, as well as hands-on nanoscale fabrication in cleanroom. Must demonstrate self-motivation and strong teamwork skills.
