Research Associate / Postdoctoral Fellow
in Optical Coherence Tomography and Confocal Fluorescence Microscopy
The Frontiers of Optical Imaging and Biology lab at Indiana University School of Optometry is looking to fill a postdoctoral fellow or research associate position in the field of optical coherence tomography and confocal fluorescence microscopy with a proposed start date of September 1st, 2023. The successful candidate will join a vibrant team of scientists and engineers developing cellular-resolution optical coherence tomography (OCT) and confocal fluorescence microscopy (CFM) for in vivo imaging in humans and transgenic mice.
The Frontiers of Optical Imaging and Biology lab is part of an active community of vision scientists, engineers, and clinicians working in the areas of biology of the eye, visual optics, visual perception, and optical imaging techniques including, scanning laser ophthalmoscopy, OCT, and adaptive optics. This highly collaborative environment offers a unique opportunity for translational and clinical research from the basic understanding of disease processes to the diagnosis and management of eye disease conditions. 
The School of Optometry has an extensive clinical program, and highly visible research and graduate program with numerous collaborations with other disciplines within the Indiana University campus and beyond. The university is a major research university founded in 1820. It currently enrolls over 34,000 undergraduates and 7,500 graduate and professional students on the Bloomington campus. The project is funded by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. Basic Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Optics, Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
Preferred Skills
A strong experimental background in OCT and/or CFM, optical instrumentation, hardware integration and synchonization or a related area, acquired through the Ph.D. work or a previous postdoctoral experience is preferred. Experience with optical system design and alignement, image acquisition and processing (e.g., using Matlab, Labview, C++), and Fourier optics are desirable. A background in vision science is not required, though beneficial.
