Mississippi Diabetes Network – Network Director

Job Summary: Overall, the Network Director will play a supporting role in coordinating the operations, growth, and strategic direction of our Network, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and effective network management. The Network Director will coordinate the execution of all programmatic components for the Mississippi Diabetes Network, a Network of partners committed to addressing the diabetes epidemic in Mississippi, including service delivery, personnel management, patient coaching, and strategy development relating to the implementation, evaluation, replication, and expansion of the Network’s related initiatives.

Position Type: Full-time with benefits

Salary: $50,000 - $70,000 dependent upon experience and credentials

Reports to: Project Director and indirectly to the Network Members and Governing Board.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Participates in the development and implementation ofthe strategic vision and goals of the Network in alignment with the organization's overall mission and objectives.
  • Network Development: Identify and establish relationships with health care providers, hospitals, clinics, and other health care organizations to expand the network's reach and improve patient access to quality care.
  • Network Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the network.
  • Implement quality assurance programs and monitor the performance of network goals and objectives.
  • Patient Coaching: Provide diabetes coaching and education via telehealth to patients enrolled in Diabetes Solutions services (~ 16 hours per week) and complete associated charting.
  • Recruit new patients for Diabetes Solutions and assist with the onboarding process.
  • Plan, organize, implement, and attend community and worksite screening events. At least one screening event in each Network county will be held annually. Screenings will include blood sugar, A1c, and blood pressure.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination across the network.
  • Policy Development: Stay updated with health care industry trends, regulations, and policies, and proactively recommends policies and procedures to ensure compliance and optimize performance.
  • Assist the Network Evaluator and Project Director with evaluation efforts and reports required by funders and stakeholders and utilize data analytics to evaluate network performance, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Provide leadership and direction fostering a positive work culture and promoting professional growth and development.
  • Proactively lead expansion efforts for the Network’s diabetes-related prevention and treatment services as well as behavioral health services in the Network’s service area.
  • Develop and manage project plans, identify key deliverables and resource requirements, and identify, track, and monitor performance metrics.
  • Organize, plan, and coordinate in-person and virtual meetings among Network Members and associated stakeholders, as required; capture and disseminate all meeting minutes and associated documents and communications with all Network Members and key staff on a regular basis.
  • Network and build relationships to develop partnerships with universities, employer groups, hospitals, and other health care facilities to grow the Network’s service area and impact; Establish collaborative relationships with health care providers and worksites in the service area.
  • Assist with marketing and promotion of the Network’s activities, offerings, and events.
  • Provides monthly summary of activities and accomplishments to Network members and stakeholders.

Qualifications: At least three years of experience in health care in some capacity, minimal educational requirements are a bachelor’s degree in relevant field such as nursing, nutrition, marketing, business, health administration, public health, or a licensed/registered health care professional. Preferred educational requirements are a master’s degree in public health, nursing, business administration, nutrition, or other health or business-related field. Minimum qualifications also include any combination of education and work-related experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills to facilitate a regional effort focused on addressing the diabetes burden and crisis facing Mississippi. Applicants holding the Board Certification in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM) credential or the Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certification or the ability and desire to sit for either exam is strongly preferred.

Professional Requirements: Completes annual educational/certification requirements, if warranted. Completes responsibilities within designated timeframe. Represents the organization and Network in a positive and professional manner in the community. Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse group to achieve a united goal. Attention to and awareness of cultural sensitivities, diversity, equality, and inclusion efforts. Must be able to pass a drug screen.

Other: This position is a fulltime position with benefits. Benefits include paid time off, partial cell phone, computer, retirement plan, dollar for dollar match for retirement up to 4%, and health/dental/vision insurance. Any travel will be reimbursed at the federally allowed rate.

This position is funded as part of the Rural Health Care Network Development Grant. While efforts will be made over the 4-year funding cycle to ensure sustainability of the Network and funded positions, we can only guarantee this position through July 2027.

Location: Must be located in within the network’s 20 county service area but will work remotely when not needed in person or when traveling for Network purpose or needs. The Network has the intention of growing state-wide over the next 4 years with the intent that the Network Director will provide services within the expanded geography.
