Overview
The Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 24 intercollegiate sports, comprised of 14 women’s and 10 men’s programs, that compete at the Division I level. The Scarlet Knights are members of the prestigious Big Ten Conference, the nation’s premier academic and athletic conference, after officially joining the league on July 1, 2014. Known as “The Birthplace of College Football, Rutgers hosted Princeton on Nov. 6, 1869 in the first intercollegiate football game, with RU earning a 6-4 victory.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Asst. Coach – Men’s Lacrosse for Athletics. Under the direct supervision of the Head Coach for Men’s Lacrosse this position will provide an opportunity for student-athletes to practice and compete on a competitive, Division I Men’s Lacrosse program while attending school to earn a college degree.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a nationally competitive intercollegiate men’s lacrosse program within the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
  • Recruit high level academically and athletically skilled students to attend Rutgers to earn a degree and to compete in the men’s lacrosse program.
  • Assist in organizing and conducting practices and competitions at a high level of efficiency and success. This position will be involved with operational duties when the team is traveling.
  • Assist in developing, teaching and instructing the student-athletes in the proper rules of competition, conditioning. skills and techniques on the field and in life-skills and leadership qualities on and off the field.
  • Assist in fundraising and public relations events that support the objectives of the program and allow for program enhancements.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education/experience
Certifications/Licenses
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of NCAA regulations relative to proper rules of play in the sport of men’s lacrosse.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate with student-athletes and the media.
  • Computer literate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • D1 Coaching experience at the Power 5 intercollegiate level, 5 years preferred.

  • Nights and weekends will be required

Immunization Requirements
