Position Summary

The Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope is looking for a talented, highly motivated, and hard-working Postdoctoral Fellow.The Post-Doc will be assigned to projects addressing the rising cases of AIDS-defining cancers (ADCs) and Non-AIDS defining cancers (NADCs), specifically cervical, Head and Neck Squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and Anal squamous cell carcinoma (ASCC). The project will involve designing novel gene therapy approaches to specifically address this unique set of cancers in people living with HIV (PWH). The Post-Doc will be required to develop cell culture assays to study the anti-cancer effects of targeted gene therapies, and then transition the therapies into nanoparticle formulations for testing in vivo in mouse xenograft models.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

· A Ph.D. degree in life or biomedical sciences, or a related discipline is required. The Post-Doc will need to have the required expertise in a wide-range of basic molecular assays such as cell culture, transfections, recombinant DNA cloning, gene expression analysis, luciferase-based assays, qRT-PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, and western blots.

· In vivo mouse experience is essential. Additional experience with xenograft and Patient-Derived xenograft (PDX) models will be viewed favorably but not required.

· Working with nanoparticles delivery systems (viral or non-viral), and for this project specifically lipid nanoparticle (LNPs) formulations, will be considered favorably but not required.

· Experience with gene editing and DNA modifying systems, like CRISPR/Cas, Zinc finger proteins, TALENs, will be considered favorably, but not essential.

· BSL2+ training and experience with working with infectious Human Immunodeficiency virus (HIV) will be considered favorably, but not essential.
