Job Description


The Departments of Neuroscience and Immunology and Microbiology at Scripps Research in La Jolla CA are seeking outstanding applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor position. More senior candidates will also be considered.  We invite applications from investigators studying the interaction between the immune and nervous systems. The successful candidate will hold affiliations with both departments, with primary affiliation in the department with the best fit.

The Neuroscience and Immunology and Microbiology Departments at Scripps Research offer a dynamic environment and provide a multi-disciplinary, collaborative atmosphere, fostering cutting edge biomedical research. The Neuroscience department hosts substantial expertise in sensory neuroscience, interoception, addiction biology, learning and memory, neural control of metabolism and animal models of neurodegenerative, psychiatric and neurological diseases.  The Immunology and Microbiology department hosts strong expertise in adaptive and innate immunity, microbial pathogenesis, microbial modulation of host physiology , autoimmunity, and vaccine development. The state-of-the-art facilities at Scripps Research provide assistance with proteomics, next-generation sequencing, microscopy, flow cytometry,  structural biology, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, medicinal chemistry, rodent behavior, and ultra high-throughput small molecule screening for drug discovery.

Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., D.V.M., or equivalent in a relevant discipline, and an outstanding record of research that demonstrates originality in addressing significant questions. Successful candidates will be expected to establish an active research group, be an interactive member of the faculty, and participate in interdisciplinary research and training.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, their Curriculum Vitae, contact information for three professional references, a current research statement (1 page), future research plans (3 pages) and a diversity statement.

Candidates are also requested to enclose a brief paragraph describing how their program can uniquely benefit from resources and expertise available at Scripps Research. This paragraph may also be included in future research plans.
