The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for an Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a member of the Microbial Pathogenesis and Immunology - Cirillo Lab team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The Postdoctoral Research Associate, under general supervision, will perform investigations related to infectious diseases projects. This position will focus on several ongoing projects in response to SARS-CoV-2, mycobacterial and other respiratory pathogens.

Required Education:


  • Appropriate doctoral degree.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Technical laboratory skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • PhD, D.V.M. and/or M.D.

  • Record of productive experience in immunology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology of pathogens.

Responsibilities:

  • Research: Individual will be primarily responsible for conducting independent research on SARS-CoV-2, mycobacterial and other respiratory pathogens and publication of results. Design, develop, and conduct research experiments. Responsible for evaluation, selection and application of standard techniques and procedures.

  • Research Data: Collect, compile, organize and analyze data. Document, summarize, and interpret results. Maintain experimental records and documentation.

  • Writing: Participate and assist with the preparation of manuscripts, grants, and publications of scientific data in peer-revised journals based on research.

  • Collaboration: Attend laboratory meetings and departmental seminars. Interface with collaborators to advance projects. Participate in projects involving lab personnel. Perform other duties as assigned.
