Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs in the School of Public Health (SPH), the Faculty Administration Manager oversees faculty actions and administration for research track faculty in the School of Public Health and supports all operations within the School’s Office of Faculty Affairs. As the University implements its Operational Plan for Investing in Research, the Faculty Administration Manager will play a critical role in managing the School’s efforts to hire, retain, and develop faculty in research-based appointments. To that end, the Manager will have the opportunity to build and oversee a coordinated program of professional development opportunities for research faculty as they seek to advance up the career ladder; serve as the primary staff member in the School of Public Health’s Office of Faculty Affairs for the work of the Committee on Public Health Faculty Appointments (PHFA); and be responsible for the oversight of all postdoctoral appointments and affairs within the School of Public Health. In partnership with the Assistant Dean of Faculty Affairs in SPH, the Faculty Administration Manager will also assume responsibility for a variety of communications and outreach functions, including website management, data and reporting, collaboration with the School’s four academic departments on faculty affairs functions, and partnerships with other University offices, such as the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR).

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree

  • Master’s degree strongly preferred

Experience

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience with academic administration and faculty appointments

  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with faculty from different academic departments preferred

  • Experience working with research faculty preferred

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex processes

  • Very strong organizational and administrative skills. Initiative and judgment to independently problem solve and prioritize. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to use those skills in collaborative settings.

  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.

  • Discretion, tact, and ability to respond appropriately to different audiences (e.g., faculty, staff) regarding sensitive and confidential matters.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, while remaining flexible in dealing with changes in approach and/or deliverables
