Job Description

 

Overview:
The Clinical Research Coordinator I (CRC) performs increasingly complex tasks to facilitate clinical research, while providing service to Virginia Mason Physicians on their clinical trials specializing in Cardiology, Asthma/Allergy, Rheumatology, and Neurology. Strong communication and organization skills are required.
 

This position would offer a variety in studies that we conduct as well as the various phases of study development. Benaroya Research Institute and the Clinical Trials Unit encourage teamwork and collaboration. We have unparalleled support from our physicians, clinic staff and study staff.
Responsibilities:
  • New study preparation
  • Assistance with and input on investigator initiated protocol development
  • Development of operating manuals and standard procedures for grant studies
  • Subject screening and recruitment
  • Informed consent
  • Subject history
  • Adverse events
  • Concomitant medication review
  • Regulatory document filing
  • Preparation for study monitor visits
  • TA handling
  • Completion of case report forms
  • Maintenance and development of source documents
  • Eligibility verification
  • Proper standard of research billing
  • Ensuring site quality

 


Subject care requirements may include:
  • Appointment scheduling
  • Arriving
  • Records review
  • Treatment coordination
    Collecting vital signs
  • Subject health assessment
  • Telephone triage/screening
  • At all times the CRC will ensure protocol compliance and subject safety
 

The CRC I may also perform phlebotomy, specimen processing using universal precautions when appropriate and consistent with licensure; and participate in process improvement events as necessary. The CRC must maintain subject and document confidentiality at all times, understand and comply with the appropriate sponsor requirements, regulations including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Institutional Review Boards, (IRB) and institutional policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum one year full-time related experience within clinical research
  • Prefer higher education or vocational training specializing in healthcare
  • Requires good medical knowledge including medical terminology, and basic subject care
  • May require Healthcare Licensure or other specialized training
  • May require phlebotomy and vital sign collection skills and the ability to operate centrifuges and EKG machines
Compensation:
$22.70 to $32.92 per hour
