Instructor of Law Enforcement - Legal

Job Function
An opportunity to join the Public Service Institute of a premier community college. The position is responsible for teaching students law enforcement discipline, actively assessing courses, refine and modify course syllabi, assist in course assessments of student achievement, and develop and modify course materials

Job Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities will be to teach courses in Law Enforcement program. As a member of a dynamic team, you will create, maintain and teach courses within Law Enforcement degree programs.

Instructional responsibilities include but are not limited to, developing relationships with transfer schools, service learning engagement with faculty and students, assessing course syllabi, outcomes and student achievement, active participation on college committees, and regular participation in department responsibilities.

Education
A Juris Doctorate.

Preliminary Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in criminal law and criminal procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Academic Preparedness:
  • A comprehensive, current knowledge of Law Enforcement providing the foundation for effective teaching and learning. Comprehensive, current knowledge should be demonstrated by participation in professional associations, professional development, recognition and research.

Assessment:
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to assess learning outcomes.

Technological Proficiency:
-Knowledge of computer-supported, -assisted, or based instruction and the ability to integrate into instructional practice.

Curriculum Development:
  • Knowledge of relevant curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated ability to design or revise curricula to maintain relevancy and meet changing needs.

Pedagogical Flexibility:
  • Knowledge of or commitment to learn and use a variety of pedagogical tools to enhance learning by students with varying backgrounds and learning styles.

Shared Governance:
  • Knowledge of the concepts and practices of academic governance, including employee involvement and individual accountability.

Community College Mission:
  • Knowledge of or commitment to learn the unique mission(s) in a comprehensive community college and its place in higher education.

( This standard may be waived at the time of hire, but the newly hired teacher will be required to prepare a plan with his/her supervisor that will ensure the achievement of the standard by the end of the probationary period.)

Work Hours General
This position to start in Winter 2024

Salary
$60,988-$72,912 (22-23 Salary Schedule)
