Position Summary

This postdoctoral appointment is designed to develop the postdoctoral scholar as an independent scientist and to enhance his/her professional skills in academia. As a team member of the Precision Health Program, this postdoctoral research associate would be expected to contribute quality research outputs and conceptual support to projects in stem cell therapy for type 1 diabetes. His/her responsibilities and duties include: 

1. Perform in vitro experiments of human induced pluripotent stem cells transduction, differentiation, and test their response to the optogenetic treatments;
2. Perform cell/organoid transplantation in small diabetic animal models and in vivo optogenetic treatment on the graft cells;
3. Perform device implantation and testing in in vivo models.
3. Summarize and analyze research data, participate in manuscript writing and submission;
4. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the Precision Health Program.

This position is a 12 month fixed term appointment.  Renewal of position is based on funding and performance.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or Medical Science


Minimum Requirements

The candidate must hold a PhD or equivalent degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or Medical Science.


Desired Qualifications

Candidates with a background in stem cell biology or similar experience are welcome to apply. Experiences with 3D cell culture and animal surgery are desired.
