Work Week

Fall, Spring, and/or Summer Semester. | Salaries are dependent upon education and semesters taught at MCC.

Position Summary

Instruct students in either ESL, ABE, ASE, HSE in Spanish, or Citizenship

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Teach courses as assigned by the College 
  • Develop syllabus using MCC syllabus template  
  • Cover all material in depth and scope as described in the course syllabus
  • Incorporate the ABE/ASE and ESL Content Standards into instruction
  • Maintain and submit accurate student and course-related paperwork and data needed for College and grant purposes in a timely fashion
  • Document and report attendance daily and maintain and submit accurate attendance records weekly
  • Actively work to maintain student retention
  • Submit grade reports electronically by the required date
  • Utilize a variety of teaching styles in order to satisfy the different learning styles of students
  • Responsible for implementing current ESL, HSE curriculum
  • Comply with Grant Requirements: 
    1. Create and submit a professional development plan annually and provide verification of completion
    2. Participate in (12) twelve hours of approved, required professional development each fiscal year
    3. Complete all required professional development trainings 
  • Conduct regular student assessments 
  • Utilize Computer-based instruction and databases when necessarily 
  • Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities 
 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from a regionally accredited institution (e.g., English, TESOL, linguistics, mathematics, reading)
  • One year teaching or training experience preferably with adult learners
  • Familiarity with computer technology and Microsoft Office including Outlook
  • Commitment to the mission of the community college, and to teaching and motivating community college students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles
