Summary

The BCM Department of Pathology & Immunology enjoys a national and international reputation of setting standards for the highest quality in clinical practice, research, and education of residents, fellows, medical students, graduate students, and undergraduate students. We are seeking highly skilled and motivated instructors with expertise in molecular and cellular biology to join the Department.


Job Duties
  • Plan, direct, and conduct research experiments.
  • Evaluate and analyze data.
  • Develop research techniques and perform applications required for specific research projects.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Document results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
  • Participate in early-stage research efforts in collaboration with biological scientists throughout the academic community, with a goal of bringing new treatments to patients with unmet medical needs.
  • Teach classes in their fields of expertise.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary lead-finding project teams.
  • Participate in pioneering the research on kinase biology in human cancers and carry out in-depth studies to reveal the molecular mechanisms underlying various kinases regulation of human cancers.
  • Publish papers of high quality and in high impact journals.
  • Submit R01 and other proposals to the NIH and grant proposals to other groups and foundations and obtain grant funding; assist with grant submissions from other investigators in the Department of Pathology and Immunology.
  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the activities of less experienced research staff.
  • Mentor students, technicians, postdocs, staff scientist and faculty in the Department of Pathology and Immunology.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree medical science. Experience may not be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 3 years of postdoctoral research experience preferred, more than 4 years of hands-on laboratory experience.
  • Prior experience at BCM
