Applications are invited for the

Chair of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Oncology

position at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC). The mission of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Oncology is to enable and apply basic research excellence to significantly contribute to #endcancer. The department's research scope aligns with MDACC's strategic planning and initiatives, namely, to foster breakthrough discovery and team science. As a basic science department at MDACC, the department strives to lead cutting-edge basic research by establishing an outstanding research group focused on the molecular and cellular aspects of cancer research, particularly in dissecting alterations of cancer cells and crosstalk between tumor and tumor microenvironment that drive tumor initiation, progression, metastasis, and resistance to therapies. The department's research interests include, but are not limited to, signaling networks and interactomes in diverse types of cancer, DNA damage and repairs, epigenetics, RNA biology, protein modification and function, metabolism, structural biology, functional genomics and multi-omics; communication between and co-evolution of tumor cells and tumor microenvironment propelling cancer metastasis and therapeutic resistance. The department hosts the institutional Functional Genomics Core supported by the Cancer Center Supporting Grant of MDACC. The chair will cultivate a collaborative environment to maximize the impact of institutional investments and leverage our unique resources as the largest and top-ranking cancer center in the US to advance multidisciplinary domain expertise and technology development and build bridges to promote collaboration with clinical colleagues. The chair will foster an environment that values and prioritizes education and encourages faculty involvement in the departmental educational programs for training graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and clinical fellows in interdisciplinary research.

Ideal applicants must be established in a field of research related to oncology-driven research that focuses on fundamental mechanistic discoveries and their translation to humans. Candidates should be at the rank of full professor or comparable administrative position and have demonstrated considerable ability and meaningful contributions to education and mentoring of trainees and junior faculty. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (MD, Ph.D., or equivalent) from an accredited academic institution.
