Job Summary:

Principal Investigator, Maria Lauda Tomasi, PhD is looking for a Postdoctoral Scientist to join the team!
The applicant should have an interest and expertise in GI pathobiology, with strong experience of immunohistochemistry, tissue culture, molecular biology (e.g. Immunoprecipitation, ChIP, DNA transfection and silencing) and mouse studies (e.g. IP and tail vein injection). Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with Dr. Tomasi and other Research Scientists, the PostDoc will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period. The Postdoc participates in laboratory meetings, keeps a lab notebook, performs calculations, tabulates data, summarizes methods and results of related experiments, and maintains general lab space. May develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. Analyzes and interprets data. May assist in preparation of grant proposals. Participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author. Not responsible for generating grant funds.

Departmental Responsibilities:
1.) Manage small research animals (knockout and transgenic models), this will include animal husbandry, breeding, genotyping, colony and database management. Interact with comparative medicine (veterinary staff), perform animal surgery and collect animal tissues and specimens.  Will also oversee and assist with training staff on animal work and surgery. 

2.) Perform basic and advanced experiments implementing molecular biology techniques for the analysis of proteins-proteins interaction using either low or high-throughputs techniques like western blotting, immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence. 

3) Participate with manuscript writing and preparation for publication in scientific journals and presentations.

Educational Requirements:

Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in area directly related to field of research specialization.

Experience:

Acquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during one to five (1-5) year post-doctoral appointment.

Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures in vitro and in vivo (mouse model), including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.

Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment.
