Compensation: $50,000 - $58,000 annually.

Regular Full-Time, Non-Exempt

This position flourishes with natural curiosity. Digging into trends, finding patterns, helping and motivating others and researching the unique constituents of Kansas State University. The Portfolio and Research Analyst gathers data to evaluate portfolio health and fundraising activity, and prepares and delivers findings in consultation to development team members. The Analyst connects activities to goal success and strengthens forecasting and performance evaluation data by promoting accountability. Using past trends and future expectancies, this position helps guide both individual and team annual goal setting activities.

A day in the life of the position could be:

  • Schedule, prepare, and lead prospect development sessions, covering topics such as portfolio health (stage distribution, size, yield, etc.), activity trends and gaps between pipeline and goal measures. Consult fundraisers on recommendations to optimize portfolios. Prepare reports including financial assets, potential philanthropic support, etc. to inform internal and external partners as they prepare to meet with constituents.
  • Monitor the centralized prospect management system to ensure contacts and interactions are recorded for strong communication across the organization.
  • Perform routine audits to credit solicitations when gifts are receipted, assign leads and referrals, and identify opportunities for enhanced data accuracy in the CRM.
  • Support education for development staff by leading new hire training sessions and ongoing training for systems and processes. Train team members on internal department processes and procedures.
  • Deliver current news alerts, search for updated contact information and prepare prospect information summaries to support fundraising needs.
  • Validate and facilitate flow of prospects to development teams identified through internal and external channels.
  • Create custom capacity ratings by calculating individual wealth indicators, such as stock and real estate holdings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years professional experience in an office setting focused on providing excellent customer service
  • Analytical skills to assess data for irregularities, anticipate problems, formulate logical conclusions, develop alternative solutions, make recommendations, and implement changes
  • Strong natural curiosity to dig into trends and desire to research details
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of relational databases
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license and acceptable driving record

What we want:

  • 2+ years experience in higher education fundraising, or data management and analytics, preferably in a University setting or sophisticated non-profit environment
  • Knowledge of the prospect fundraising cycle
  • Understanding of the dynamic communications between fundraiser requests and development support services
